Mental disorders are an important topic that you brought attention to as they require careful consideration and treatment and they can be a contributing factor in other public health issues. For example, mental disorders can be a contributing factor to issues of homelessness. The criminal justice and public health system is said to present complex problems for both patients and the health crisis management system due to a system that is both stressed and complex (Obrien et al., 2018). Many individuals that are experiencing mental health crisis often have interactions with police and may get jailed without receiving adequate care for the mental health crisis they are experiencing. It is discussed by O’Brien et al., (2018) that care for those with mental health disorders require multiagency work and facilitation of mental health professionals as well as criminal justice professionals to provide ethical care and management.
