Burke and Paine the Right to Revolt
Burke and Paine the Right to Revolt
Since the beginning of time many theorist believed that change is good and in order for things to change someone must take a stand and make a difference. The video of Burke and Paine, Man and the State on the Revolution, show points that are still in effect in today’s society. The video is set in 1792 in England, after the American Revolution, but during the time of the French Revolution. Burke and Paine are similar yet different, because they both supported the American Revolution. However, Burke believed differently when it comes to the French Revolution, while, Paine believes the total opposite and defends the right of a person to revolt.
The guests are invited to dinner where the fear of revolution is brought to life. The dinner is turned into revolt where the servants show Burke and Paine both sides of a revolution. A revolution to political leaders are personal interest and only the one that catches one’s action is the one he supports rather than the one that is used to help gain a man’s right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
A man’s greatest accomplishment is the one where he defended his rights and did not simply bow down to certain treatment and made a change for not only himself but for those around him who cannot protect his or her rights. The word impossible is used to show that it is impossible for a man to give up his rights to another man that cannot respect each person has equal. In addition, this video gives examples of how man who is not considered equal, endure harsh treatment and punishment for fighting for his rights as a man. Therefore, the only way to solve this problem is to fight what is rightfully theirs and that is freedom and respect.
